Why dont my emergency lights switch off during load shedding?
I can’t switch off my emergency lights during load-shedding you may ask. The reason may be that you have more than one light on a circuit, in which case the emergence light will stay on, this is normal.
The battery circuit needs to complete a loop to work and if there are other lights on the same circuit then the emergency lamp will use them to complete the loop. Here’s a great video that explains it all.

Are LED lights brighter than fluorescent?
The LED tube lights are noticeably brighter than fluorescent tubes. Additionally, you don’t get exposed to any kind of harmful rays such as UV/IV rays that can damage your eyes and can result in skin allergies.
LED lights are very efficient. While incandescent bulbs and CFLs generate most of their energy in heat, LEDs are cool to the touch, and this translates into less wasted energy. LED tube lights do not require an energy-wasting ballast. The ballast in fluorescent fittings becomes very hot during operation and this translates into wasted energy.
There are fewer parts in an LED tube fitting and this translates into less maintenance required over time.
