Additionally, sellers, importers, and manufacturers of electric fence energizers must provide proof that the energizers comply with SANS 60335-2-76 by producing a certificate issued by an accredited test laboratory recognized by the accreditation authority.
How long is my electric fence certificate valid?
The Electric Fencing Certificate (EFC) is valid indefinitely if no significant changes are made to the installation. Minor repairs don’t require a new EFC. However, replacing the energizer requires a new EFC. The EFC can be transferred to the buyer only if no changes have been made to the system after the certificate was issued. It’s essential to hand over the original EFC to the buyer when the property is sold and inform them of their legal obligations.
What about electric fences installed before 1st October 2012?
